UAE - Mubasher: The Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and Baianat IP convened a conference to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day.
Entitled "Intellectual Property & SMEs: actualise your ideas in the market", the conference included various discussions on the importance of intellectual property for small and medium-sized enterprises and the ways to enhance their products’ value and competitiveness, according to a press release on Wednesday.
The ceremony was attended by intellectual property officials and researchers from Egypt and other Arab countries.
Egypt Office Director at Baianat-IP, Ahmed Alzourqani, said: "As SMEs are the engine of development, providing 89% of job opportunities in Egypt, we believe that ensuring rights of intellectual property is a priority to encourage innovation without fear."
Meanwhile, the Head of the Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit of the League of Arab States, Maha Bekheet, commented: "With knowledge and awareness, Intellectual property can be a powerful tool that leads to optimizing start-ups and maximizing their profitability."
